Dr. Eric Payne, a member of the CCCA’s Scientific and Medical Advisory Committee, has written an open letter in response to the recent push for facial coverings by public health authorities. The fall/winter surge in childhood respiratory illness, particularly Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), is being used to justify facial coverings. Dr. Payne explains there is a lack of data to support their use to protect against aerosolized respiratory infections, like COVID-19 and Influenza. On the other hand, there are numerous well documented potential risks for the wearer.
