In the past, great caution was exercised when allowing medical interventions on our children, youth, and young adults — public health policy makers would consider the risk/benefit balance when creating guidelines.
In order to get the COVID-19 vaccines distributed quickly, insufficient time was given to assess their long-term safety.
Pfizer BioNTech’s COVID-19 mRNA vaccine has been Authorized under an Interim Order by Health Canada for use in Canadians as young as 12 years of age. There is speculation the authorization will expand to include its use in younger children.
The science is evolving quickly, and many uncertainties remain about COVID-19 vaccine safety. The CCCA believes it is not appropriate to use a vaccine on everyone in this group when the potential side effects are unknown while the risk of illness due to COVID-19 in children, youth, and adults of reproductive age is minimal. And, should they become unwell, effective options are available to treat COVID-19.
Our children and young adults have long lives ahead of them. An unforeseen side effect may compromise them or their reproductive health for decades. Or worse — their entire lives.
Please support our petition asking that the COVID-19 vaccine program be paused in pregnant women, children, youth, and adults of reproductive age until long-term safety data is known.

We are certainly not against the use of clinically proven vaccines, but we do feel the need to call upon the Government of Canada to suspend the use of the current COVID-19 vaccines in pregnant women, children, youth, and adults of child-bearing age until adequate short and long-term safety trials are completed and published in peer-reviewed journals
